Board800 allows users to collaborate via online whiteboards. This is currently a free service that allows the user to generate a code to begin a whiteboard session. The code can be shared with the participants whether they be in the room or across the continent. (middle, high)

Use the site to create shapes, draw freeform, and insert text or pictures. You can even work with multiple boards at once.

Slideshare

Slideshare is a fantastic website that allows the user to upload and share PowerPoint & Keynote presentations and documents. Users can include speaker’s notes, live hyperlinks, and even relevant YouTube videos to play within the presentation. Slideshare automatically will create a presentation transcript for each upload.

Users can also set privileges for downloading presentations and even schedule live zipcasts. There is great potential for this tool for teachers to use to house class materials, presentations, webinars, etc…).

Thumbscribes

ThumbScribes is a platform for creating collaborative writing pieces.

Co+Create haiku, poems, short stories, flash fiction, novellas,  and songs, real time or asynchronously with your computer, tablet, cell phone or even IM.

Numsum

Numsum allows users to collaborate through web-based spreadsheets by tracking records, lists and data online. Spread sheets can be saved public, private and/or shared with specific users. A maximum of 2 private spreadsheets can be shared at a time. Classroom use is cross-curricular. Share checklists, budget analysis, charts & graphs, rosters, schedules, etc amongst each other. Public spreadsheets are searchable by tags and can be copied for personal use.

Slidestaxx

Slidestaxx is a slide show program, like Animoto, that allows for the upload of pictures, movies, bookmarks, or information, then creates a slide show.  It requires that photos be smaller than 1 mb.  It is designed to embed easily into web pages, shared via Facebook, etc.  Some classroom applications include presentations and video logs. The site states:

Slidestaxx enables you to gather social media from various sources and produce a beautiful slideshow you can post on your blog, website or directly on slidestaxx. It’s fast, easy and free! Add pictures, videos, websites and more into your slideshow and then embed the slidestaxx into your own website or blog.

StoryJumper  is a site which allows the user to create and publish storybooks. The user can decide if the book is available to the public or private. Teachers are able to create classroom accounts.

Nota is an online place where you can create documents, and instantly add to them almost anything you like. You can drop in pictures from Flickr. Videos from YouTube. Text, drawing, you name it. It’s all in Nota. If you can imagine it, you can do it – in seconds.

Aviary Education

Fotobabble

Fotobabble  allows users to upload a picture from either a web page via URL or from a desktop or laptop, and add audio to the picture. Classroom applications include using the site to present on a person, place, or concept.

Users are required to sign up for a free account before they can make a “fotobabble” but once it is made, users may share the photo on social networks, send a link in an email, or embed the photo.
